Parashat Metzora - 5776

My friends,

This week's Parasha continues the discussion from last week's Parasha regarding the Metzorah who has a skin disease can be called tzara-at. It describes the purification ritual and the purification process for the Metzorah to be reintegrated into his/her community.

Two points I would like to make:

(1) There was compassion shown to the Metzorah by the weekly visits by the Kohen. (2) There was also an effort to welcome him back into the community.

We all know of someone who unfortunately has suffered an illness that has kept him/her from the community. It is our duty to show our concern and be there to welcome him/her back That's the mitzvah of 'Bikur holim' - visiting the sick and making sure to follow thru so the person does not feel isolated.

This Shabbat is also Shabbat HaGadol. Remembering the Israelites' courage before they were liberated.

Do we show courage in keeping our traditions?

Shabbat Shalom,

Avram
